The muzzle ensures the spell only fires outward, and not in an unrestricted explosion cloud, which could explain why the damage boost isn't particularly great. The other theory, they have magic that they can draw from enemies and around the world, maybe there's a Fire spell embedded in the firing chamber that is weak enough to not drain the draw charge, and causes an explosion at a range close to the blade.
hell, the other games of the series often use mythril in an armor set, and even Gold armors (which can't be made out of actual gold. The blade sustains the damage because it's a fantasy world, they can have metals that don't break. The graphic we get for a successful is actually an explosive flame (like you said), and not gunsmoke or a bullet, so I have 2 theories as to what the "Gunblade" actually fires.įirst, if you assume it does use magnum rounds in the chamber, there's a chance that as the bullet leaves the chamber, it hits the blade and becomes an additional scatter shot that hits the enemy in multiple places, as well as the first slash, causing lots of extra damage. Even his limit break Renzokuken has you hitting the trigger on each contact. If you notice, Squall never fires the magnum attachment of the gun at any sort of distance, and the player is informed to press the trigger as the hit connects with the enemy. My Theory: As they're building on the Close-combat basis from other Final Fantasy games, we're looking mostly at the slashing attack of the gunblade. So what are your ideas? Do you have any info that would help my theory? Or is the GunBlade as useless as they say? Although, the problem with that, is that Squall would also be affected.
About: This mod introduces the Revolver, a signature weapon of Squall Leonheart, protagonist of Final Fantasy VIII. Its probably the least dangerous and it can create a flash to blind the enemy. Squalls gunblade, the Revolver 2.2 by Siilk THIS MOD IS PROIVIDED AS-IS, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. To me, the Flash Powder makes the most sense. But I think that the blade would not be too damaged from these and Squall would need to also not be harmed. I dont know enough about these to be sure. The explosion cannot be too dangerous right? So my theory is that it uses a flash powder, maybe a fulminate or tetrasulfur tetranitride as the explosive. So the idea of a GunBlade isn't so far fetched.īut looking at the game, it doesn't appear to be a gun 'shot' that happens when its in use.
Research has brought me to find out that there have been guns mixed with blades.
In real life, would the principals of the sword be good? But is it really? As an in-game weapon, maybe its great. Revolver is a sword with a revolver chamber, which serves as the hilt for the blade. An iconic symbol from Final Fantasy VIII, it has since appeared in several other games in the series. So the Gunblade has gone down as a "stupid" weapon, even a useless one. The Revolver (, Riborub), is the gunblade of choice for Squall Leonhart in most of his appearances in the Final Fantasy series.
